From the very beginning, Magnolia Mixes has been focused on delicious bread, made locally, by family.
It all began in 2013 as the Magnolia Bread Company, when we started baking and selling baked loaves of bread. While our Whole Wheat and Original White was popular, it was the Gluten Free Bread that really struck a chord with our customers and changed the direction of our business. Our customers began asking about our GF bread and asking if we had any other GF products. Having been diagnosed with Celiac in 2015 – and my family eating GF along with me – I have to say I was excited to hear this!
With the goal of creating healthy GF foods with great texture and taste, we took the plunge and dove deep into the gluten free baking. If you’ve ever baked GF foods yourself, you know how challenging it can be to find GF foods that taste like they should! Not finding anything that met our standards for taste and texture, we began creating our own blends of gluten free flours, eventually leading us to move away from baked breads to our own mixes. Instead of buying dry, pre-baked GF bread at the store, now people could simply bake a delicious, fresh GF product right in their own home! Magnolia Mixes was born.
Each of our mixes comes from what we all miss most when we are diagnosed with Celiac or gluten sensitivity. Our most popular mix is our Lemon Pound Cake! We’re not lying when we say this is the best pound cake you’ve ever had – GF or otherwise!
First up was our pancake and waffle mix. When our four children were growing up, Saturday mornings meant Dad was home and Mom would cook stacks of hot, fluffy, pancakes with lots of butter and maple syrup. After going gluten free, those light, fluffy pancakes were suddenly much, much more difficult to make! After trying out a few different recipes, we finally settled on a High-Protein GF Pancake & Waffle Mix, you and your family can all sit down once again and enjoy light, moist (AND gluten free) pancakes - with extra protein to get your day started!
After that, we branched out to other Southern staples. A moist, flavorful banana bread mix was certainly in order and, of course the indispensable chocolate chip cookie – a mix that rivals any ‘normal’ chocolate chip cookie!
We are always testing out new recipes that are delicious, affordable, and healthy – so watch out!
Sometimes the hard things in life (like finding out you have Celiac Disease) make you change the way you do things, but God is always willing to give direction and counsel if you will ask Him, and then wait for His answer! With more good things to come.
